Not a great night’s sleep and to add insult to injury the sun is shining – a mint day for riding but maybe too soon?!!
It is unbelievable that someone can snore as loudly as the guy next to me without waking himself up. It seems humanly impossible and is so loud it shakes the change in my pockets. It was so bad that I called the nurse and asked to change rooms – but there were no spare beds.
I asked for some strapping tape and thick cotton wool ( about 5 cups full) and proceeded to wrap my head like a Lock going in to play the French. At this stage I didn’t care what I looked like. It was only slightly embarrassing in the morning when the nurses saw me. They started laughing saying “we didn’t realize we had any head-wounds in this ward!”
Other than no sleep I had a 30-45 minute period during the night where I had dizziness followed by nausea. I ended up sitting on the toilet sweating for 40 minutes until I was able to walk back to bed. All good now though.
Just as I was looking forward to my French Toast arriving a plastic tray was placed next to me that contained 1 slice of brown bread toast and marmalade, 1 plastic cup of orange juice and a bowl of something you might give to horses. I think I’ll just go hungry.
Just saw the Doctor and all looks ok to get out of here today. They will X-Ray and then remove tube, stitches etc.
My only concern is that I am in a little too much pain to drive any distance. I would be ok around the town but getting home to Auckland is a bit more daunting. I can’t take much more. I am going STIR CRAZY.
